Mary Queen of the Angels
August Queen of Heaven! Sovereign Mistress of the angels! You who from the beginning has received from God the power and mission to crush the head of Satan, we humbly beseech you to send your Holy Legions, that, under your command and by your power, they may pursue the evil spirits, encounter them on every side, resist their bold attacks and drive them into the abyss of eternal woe. Amen. (revealed to a Bernadine sister)
Angels and Archangels (in general)
O God, who in Thine ineffable Providence, hast sent Thy Holy Angels to watch over us: grant, we humbly pray, that we may always be defended by their protection and may rejoice in their fellowship forever. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
God our Father, in a wonderful way You guide the work of angels and men. May those who serve You constantly in heaven keep our lives safe from all harm here on earth. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. [Opening Prayer/Collect, Feast of the Holy Archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Sep. 29th, Roman Missal]
Father, in praising Your faithful angels and archangels, we also praise Your glory, for in honoring them, we honor You, their Creator. Their splendor shows us Your greatness, which surpasses in goodness the whole of creation. Amen. Most noble Archangels, you who, under the command of St Michael, guard and protect the Holy Church, deign to deliver her from internal and external enemies. Watch over the Holy Father, as well as over all the children of the Immaculate Spouse of Christ, and in virtue of the Divine Blood, obtain for us the grace to live and die in the Faith, Hope and Charity of Holy Church, so that we may be eternally united with its august Head, Jesus Christ, our Lord. You Angels and Archangels, you Thrones and Dominations, you Principalities and Powers, you Virtues of the heavens, Cherubim and Seraphim, bless the Lord for ever.
[Tridentine Roman Missal]
Bless the Lord, all you His Angels: you that are mighty in strength, and execute His Word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers who do His will.
[Tridentine Roman Missal]
St Michael the Archangel
O God, who has constituted the service of angels and of men in a wonderful order, mercifully grant, that they who ever stand before Thy face to do Thee service in heaven, may also defend our life upon earth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen. [Collect, Feast of the Apparition of St. Michael on Mt.
Gargano, May 8th, and Feast of the Dedication of the Basilica of St. Michael, Sep. 29th, Tridentine Roman Missal]
Supported by the intercession of blessed Michael, Thine Archangel, we humbly beseech Thee, O Lord, that the service we pay with our lips, we may lay hold of with our minds. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen. [Post-Communion, Tridentine Roman Missal]
O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon your Holy Name, and as supplicants we implore your clemency, that by the intercession of Blessed Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious Archangel St Michael, You would deign to help us against Satan and all other unclean spirits, who roam about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls. Amen.
St Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle, that we may not perish in the fearful
judgment. [Tridentine Roman Missal]
St Michael the Archangel, and all you Holy Angels, protect us in our battles, that we may not perish in the tremendous
judgment of God.
Saint Michael, first champion of the Kingship of Christ, pray for us. [Pope Pius XI, Apostolic Brief of 11 Jan 1927]
Glorious Prince of the heavenly hosts and victor over rebellious spirits, be mindful of me who am so weak and sinful, and yet so prone to pride and ambition. Lend me, I pray, your powerful aid in every temptation and difficulty, and above all do not forsake me in my last struggle with the powers of evil. Amen.
O glorious Prince of the heavenly host, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the fearful warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come thou to the assistance of men, whom Almighty God created immortal, making them in His own image and likeness and redeeming them at a great price from the tyranny of Satan. Fight this day the battle of the Lord with the legions of holy Angels, even as of old thou didst fight against Lucifer, the leader of the proud spirits and all his rebel angels, who were powerless to stand against thee, neither was their place found
any more in heaven. And that apostate angel, transformed into an angel of darkness who still creeps about the earth to encompass our ruin, was cast headlong into the abyss together with his followers. But behold, that first enemy of mankind, and a murderer from the beginning, has regained his confidence. Changing himself into an angel of light, he goes about with the whole multitude of the wicked spirits to invade the earth and blot out the Name of God and of His Christ, to plunder, to slay and to consign to eternal damnation the souls that have been destined for a crown of everlasting life. This wicked serpent, like an unclean torrent, pours into men of depraved minds and
corrupt hearts the poison of his malice, the spirit of lying, impiety and blasphemy, and the deadly breathe of impurity and every form of vice and iniquity. These crafty enemies of mankind have filled to overflowing with gall and wormwood the Church, which is the Bride of the Lamb without spot; they have laid profane hands upon her most sacred treasures. Make haste, therefore, O invincible prince, to help the people of God against the inroads of the lost spirits and grant us the victory. Amen
[indulg. by Leo XIII, 25 Sep. 1888]
Glorious St Michael, Prince of the heavenly hosts, who stands always ready to give assistance to the people of God; who did fight with the dragon, the old serpent, and did cast him out of heaven, and who now valiantly defends the Church of God that the gates of hell may never prevail against her, I earnestly entreat you to assist me also, in the painful and dangerous conflict which I have to sustain against the same formidable foe. Be with me, O mighty Prince! that I may courageously fight and wholly vanquish that proud spirit, whom you have, by the Divine Power, so gloriously overthrown, and whom our powerful King, Jesus Christ, has, in our nature, so
completely overcome; to the end that having triumphed over the enemy of my salvation, I may with you and the Holy Angels praise the mercy of God who, having refused mercy to the rebellious angels after their fall, has granted repentance and forgiveness to fallen men. Amen.
O glorious St Michael, guardian and defender of the Church of Jesus Christ, come to the assistance of this Church, against which the powers of hell are unchained, guard with especial care her august Head on earth, and obtain for him and for us that the hour of triumph may speedily arrive. O glorious Archangel St Michael, watch over us during life, defend us against all the assaults of the demon, assist us especially at the hour of death; obtain for us a favorable
judgment, and the happiness of beholding God face to face for eternity. Amen.
St Gabriel The Archangel
O God, who from among all the Angels did choose the Archangel Gabriel to announce the Mystery of Thine Incarnation: mercifully grant that we who keep his feast on earth may feel the effect of his patronage in heaven. Who lives and reigns, with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen [Collect for the Feast of St. Gabriel, March 24th, Tridentine Roman Missal]
O Blessed Archangel Gabriel, we beseech you, intercede for us at the throne of divine Mercy in our present necessities, that as you did announce to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation, so through your prayers and patronage in heaven we may obtain the benefits of the same, and sing the praise of God forever in the land of the living. Amen.
May the offering of our service, O Lord, and the prayer of the blessed Archangel Gabriel be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord; that he whom we venerate on earth, may be our advocate before Thee in heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. [ Offertory Prayer, Tridentine Roman Missal]
After Communion
. Having partaken of the mysteries of your Body and Blood, we implore Your mercy, O Lord our God; that we to whom Your Incarnation was made known by the message of Gabriel, may likewise obtain through his help the benefits of that same Incarnation. Who lives and reigns with You.[Post-Communion, Tridentine Roman Missal]
St Raphael the Archangel
O God, who did give blessed Raphael the Archangel to Thy servant Tobias, as a companion on his journey: grant to us, Thy servants, that we may always be guarded by his care and strengthened by his help. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, who lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end. Amen. [Collect, Feast of St. Raphael, October 24th, Tridentine Roman Missal]
O glorious Archangel, St Raphael, great Prince of the heavenly court, illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace, guide of those who journey by land or sea, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners: I beg you to assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you did help the young Tobias on his travels. And because you are the 'Medicine of God,' I humbly ask you to heal the many infirmities of my soul, and the ills which afflict my body, if it be for my greater good. I especially ask of you an angelic purity, which may fit me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Be pleased, O Lord God, to send to our aid St Raphael the Archangel: and may he, who, we believe, stands forever before the throne of Your Majesty, offer unto You our humble petitions to be blessed by You. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. [Post-Communion, Tridentine Roman Missal]
May the Almighty and merciful Lord direct us on our journey; may He make it prosper, and maintain us in peace.
May the Archangel Raphael accompany us along the way, and may we return to our homes in peace, joy and health.
Lord have mercy on us. Christ have mercy on us. Lord have mercy on us.
O God, who did cause the children of Israel to traverse the Red Sea dryshod, and who pointed out by a star, to the Magi, the road that led them to You; grant us, a prosperous journey and fair weather, so that under the guidance of Your Holy Angels, we may safely reach our journeys end, and later the haven of eternal salvation.
Guardian Angel
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here; ever this day (or
night) be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule and to guide. Amen.
O most Holy Angel of God, appointed by Him to be my guardian, I give you thanks for all the benefits which you have bestowed on me in body and in soul. I praise and glorify you that you did condescend to assist me with such patient fidelity, and to defend me against all the assaults of my enemies. Blessed be the hour in which you were assigned to me as my guardian, my defender, and my patron. In acknowledgement and return of all your loving ministries to me since my youth, I offer you the infinitely precious and noble Heart of Jesus, and firmly resolve to obey you henceforth, and most faithfully to serve my God. Amen. (St. Gertrude)
O thou who speedest through all space
More swiftly than the lightnings fly,
Go very often in my place
To those I love most tenderly.
With thy soft touch, Oh, dry their tears,
Tell them the Cross is sweet to bear,
Speak my name softly in their ears,
And Jesus' Name supremely fair! (St Therese of Lisieux)
Angel who Comforted the Lord (Lk 22:43)
O holy Angel who didst strengthen Jesus Christ our Lord, come and strengthen us also; come and tarry not.
[indulg. by Pope St. Pius X, 10 Jul. 1907]
I salute thee, holy Angel who didst comfort my Jesus in His agony, and with thee I praise the Most Holy Trinity for having chosen thee from among all the holy Angels to comfort and strengthen Him who is the comfort and strength of all that are in affliction. By the honor thou didst enjoy and by the obedience, humility and love wherewith thou didst assist the sacred Humanity of Jesus, my Savior, when He was fainting for very sorrow at seeing the sins of the world and especially my sins, I beseech thee to obtain for me perfect sorrow for my sins; deign to strengthen me in the afflictions that now overwhelm me, and in all the other trials, to which I shall be exposed
henceforth and, in particular, when I find myself in my final agony. Amen. [Sacred Penitentiary, 5 Aug. 1921]
